Limoncello
Cocktails

Limoncello

Limoncello is a lemon liqueur produced in the south of Italy. Various regions in Italy use different types of lemons to create liqueurs with subtle differences. Making limoncello at home is a lengthy process, but it is well worth the effort. It takes two months from beginning to end, but the process is quite simple. A few variations worth noting are the use of lime, mandarin or tangerine skin in place of the lemon. If you can get pure grain alcohol, it can also be used in place of the vodka for a more pure lemon flavor.

Mango Margarita
Cocktails

Frozen Mango Margarita

Mary Jo and I spent three lovely years living on the island of Aruba. With a fresh fruit and vegetable market on the side of the road on our way home from work, we would often stop and get tropical fruit for cold blended drinks. This was one of our favorite drinks on those hot tropical nights. Papayas, strawberries and peaches also work well as margarita flavors.

Cranberry Limoncello Martini
Cocktails

Cranberry-Limoncello Martini

This was one of our guests favorite fall cocktails over the years at the Inn. The combination of tart cranberries and citrus with limoncello makes for a refreshing and visually stunning cocktail. The Cranberry-Syrup base can be made well in advance and kept in the refrigerator for weeks, and this recipe makes enough for 15 cocktails. Simply combine with citrus vodka and ice, shake and serve.

Blackberry Mojito
Cocktails

Blackberry Mojito

The mojito is a traditional Cuban drink that is sweet and refreshing, with a rum kick. All summer long my herb garden is taken over with a huge patch of spearmint and I couldn’t be happier about it. As one of our most popular drink specials at the Inn, the mojito is delicious on its own or with the addition of berries or other fruits. The blackberries make for a dramatic presentation.

Key Lime Martini

This martini is like a piece of Key Lime Pie in a glass…with a little alcohol. The Graham Cracker crumb is mandatory if you want the full experience. Key limes can be used if they are available, use 3 in this recipe.

Watermelon Mojito

What could be more refreshing than a Mojito? Answer: A watermelon Mojito. This has always been one of my favorite cocktails on a hot summer evening, not that we have many of them here in Maine. Enjoy!
